Strangest things I've found in Rehabs

I am always excited to find anything old in a house that we are rehabbing and I have found some really strange things. I thought I’d share a few of my favorites.

Prophylactics from the 1930’s

Yep. I once found a tin (they used to come in a tin like Altoids) of condoms in the basement of a house. They were sort of hidden in a coal chute. It’s always interesting to think about who put them there, why they put them there and what else was going on in their lives. Well, we certainly know one thing that was going on in their lives.

Someone’s Porn Stash from the 1970’s

It was in the rafters of the garage. On top of some old doors that were being stored up there, I stumbled across a handful of someone’s porn stash. It was definitely from the 70’s and it was, let’s just say, very “niche”. Since this is a family blog, I’ll leave it at that!

A sawed-off shotgun

As I was pulling down a ceiling in the basement, I put my hand into a small area and felt something. It was a double-barrel, sawed off shotgun. Yes, it was definitely loaded.

The strange things we find in rehabs are just one of many things that keeps it interesting and makes me excited to do this every day and wonder what we are going to discover next. Stay tuned, because you never know what will turn up tomorrow!
